Barbara Kirk has always lived a life immersed in music. During high school and college she studied with master violin teacher, Creech Reynolds, and played in the Bozeman Symphony. She has played in orchestras for Red Skelton, Glen Campbell, and Tom Jones. She has her bachelors degree in music from MSU-Billings and her masters degree in teaching from Grand Canyon University. She taught elementary music for 22 years in the public schools in Hardin and Laurel. She currently plays in the Powell, Bozeman, Billings, and Great Falls Symphonies.

Lindsey Selman grew up in the Yellowstone Valley and has loved music since she was a little girl. She started playing the piano at five years of age, and began lessons on the violin at eleven. She began her orchestra career by playing with the Billings Honor and Honor Chamber Orchestras in middle school, and the Billings Symphony Orchestra in high school. Linsdey attended Heartland Baptist College in Oklahoma, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Church Music, with an emphasis on violin performance and education. Lindsey lives in Billings with her husband Robert, who is also a violinist and drummer. Lindsey maintains a full studio of violin and piano students, plays with the Billings Symphony and with the Stillwater String Quartet. She has been a supporter of BYO since it started in 2006 and has both served on the board as an intern, and as a mentor in all four orchestras.

Randy Tracy is an accomplished teacher and violinist. He has been the Concertmaster of the Billings Symphony since 1986. Randy Tracy holds a music degree from Colorado State University, where he studied conducting and violin with Will Schwartz. In New York, he studied under Ora Shiran and Itzhak Perlman while playing in the National Orchestral Association at the Juilliard School. He was a member of the Denver Symphony, and served as Concertmaster and assistant conductor of the Casper Symphony. He alsoperforms with the Red Lodge Chamber Players and the Yellowstone Chamber Players. His traditional Celtic band “Glynfiddle” released their first CD in 2002.

Sue Logan

Repertory Winds conductor

Sue Logan is the current principal oboe with the Billings Symphony and Rimrock Opera Orchestras, and she also freelances with other Montana orchestras. She is adjunct faculty at Rocky Mountain College and MSU-Billings, and maintains a private oboe studio. Logan has been on the faculty of the Red Lodge Music Festival (RLMF) for the past several years. Her performances with the RLMF and the Yellowstone Chamber Players have been broadcast on NPR’s “Performance Today.” Ms. Logan earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Oboe Performance from the Juilliard School. Coaching the winds in the Billings Youth Orchestra is a way for her to pass her love of orchestral playing on to the next generation of musicians.
